Thanks Unfortunately I left the castle I was overseeing for various reasons (have you a day and a jar of coffee?)...but the information would have been useful! I am still madly interested in castles so if you are looking for any help castle wise call on me... Lucialucia Has anyone any idea whether there are laws that would prevent drastic alterations to an old castle for compliance with modern fire and planning regulations?
Luc.
wurdsmiff I suspect that your laws are similar to those in the U.K whereby it would depend on whether the alterations are to be made to a listed building or not. I suspect that planning permission would be required, and that alterations to comply with fire regulations would be encouraged, if not demanded, particulariy where the premesis is to acquire a public function, e.g. as a hotel. I am no lawyer and have no experience of how things work in Eire.
The best person to consult would be a lawyer, or contact the local council/authority. I am sure that they would be happy to explain the local point of view.
lucia Thank you Savoy.
Kind regards,
